A Profound Verse from the Gita

One of the most insightful verses from the Bhagavad Gita is Chapter 2, Verse 47:

Sanskrit:
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन |
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि || 47 ||

Transliteration:
karmaṇy-evādhikāras te mā phaleṣhu kadāchana
mā karma-phala-hetur bhūr mā te saṅgo ’stvakarmaṇi

Translation:
You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.

This verse encapsulates the essence of Karma Yoga, emphasizing the importance of action without attachment to results. It teaches us the right attitude towards work, encouraging us to focus on our duties without worrying about the outcomes.

  1. Focus on performing your duties diligently.

  2. Do not let the desire for results hinder your efforts.

  3. Practice detachment from the fruits of your actions.

This profound wisdom guides individuals to engage in their responsibilities while maintaining inner peace, allowing them to navigate life’s challenges without stress or anxiety.
