Does Jivatma Exist or Is It Just an Illusion?

The Bhagavad Gita offers deep insights on the nature of the soul (Jivatma) and its existence. According to the Gita, the Jivatma is the individual soul that is distinct from the body and is eternal.

1. In Chapter 2, Verse 20, it is stated:

   "For the soul, there is neither birth nor death. It has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. The soul is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, and primeval. It is not slain when the body is slain."

2. This verse emphasizes that the Jivatma is not an illusion, but rather an eternal entity that transcends physical existence.

3. In Chapter 2, Verse 22, it is further explained:

   "Just as the body undergoes changes from childhood to old age, in the same manner, the soul passes into another body at death. The wise are not deluded by this."

In summary, the Bhagavad Gita teaches that the Jivatma is real and eternal, and not merely an illusion. It exists independently of the physical body and experiences cycles of birth and rebirth.
