What does merging into the Lord mean?

Merging into the Lord signifies the integration of the individual soul with the Supreme Soul, commonly understood as attaining liberation or unity with God. This concept reflects a state of realization where one recognizes their true nature as being part of the divine. In the Bhagavad Gita, this merging often refers to the soul's return to its source, characterized by understanding one's divine nature and realizing the unity with Krishna or the Supreme Being.

  1. In Chapter 5, Verse 24, it states that those who are happy within themselves and enjoy the divine bliss of God are united with the Lord, showing that true happiness lies in this merging:

“Those who are happy within themselves, enjoying the delight of God within, and illumined by the inner light, such yogis are united with the Lord and are liberated from material existence.”

  2. In Chapter 14, Verse 2, it elaborates that those who take refuge in divine wisdom are united with God, indicating a deep spiritual connection that transcends the cycle of birth and rebirth:

“Those who take refuge in this wisdom will be united with Me. They will not be reborn...”

  3. Furthermore, Chapter 7, Verse 7 describes the relationship between the Supreme Lord and creation, emphasizing that everything rests in God:

“There is nothing higher than Myself, O Arjun. Everything rests in Me, as beads strung on a thread.”

This understanding leads to liberation and eternal bliss, emphasizing a deep connection and unity with the divine source.
